Regarding J'burg. We were driving to the game. Rimmer with us. All he said: Nice neighbourhood - Please dont Stop!

But I think I said before - that part of J'burg the worst place to be especially at night.
There were so many places I really liked but NOT Joburg.

We stayed at a brand new hotel at Umhlanga which was lovely, the staff were sooooo helpful and when our coaches pulled up and all of us weary travellers got off, the staff were all outside waiting, clapping and singing, and most importantly had a table full of chilled lager!

The weather here was great too, much hotter than I anticipated.

We stayed for a few nights in a place called Cathedral Peaks in Drakensburg - WOW!! The mountain views were breathtaking and from here we visited the battlefields, this place was one of my favourites of all the trip.

Joburg then for a few nights in Tenko, before flying down to Cape Town, where again we had great weather, so much better than than they'd had the previous week for the Emerging Springboks game, we arrived quite early on the Sunday following the 2nd test and immediately took the cable car to Table mountain where we had the most spectacular views.

Obviousy quite commercial in Cape Town especially the waterfront area, but we had some terrific meals there and at good prices.

Back to Tenko for 3 nights and the final test, we didn't venture outside the hotel, we didn't think it was worth the risk.

Ellis Park area is very intimidating so we went straight into the ground before the game and afterwards we left en mass to be route marched back to the coaches, I wasn't sorry to get away from that area!

Our final 2 nights were in a game reserve called Kwa Maritane at Pilanesburg, again beautiful views, and we spent a few hours in the Hide watching the elephants at the watering hole.

I didn't manage to get to Sun city though as we just didn't have the time.

You live in a beautiful country, it's just a shame that parts of it are so unsafe.

Thanks! Yes it is beautifull. But I think I have said time and time again. Watch out for some places. Maybe Rimmer will show up some time here and tell you bout his expierence. The one thing he said that stood out - SA was nothing at all like they try to broadcast it to the rest of the world. (Except maybe the day we went to Ellis Park)

He expierenced a total SA enviroment. Staying with us. Living the life we do. Oh and I had a good go at him and my hubby for staying out late in the pubs. He even went to do some hunting. And one of our friends bought him a Bok Jersey. ANd with all the Boere around him he had no choice but to put it on. He did sing a few Lion's songs with it on tough. In the local pub
