I know this is dead in the water, but I fancy a bash anyway!

Munster 33 Northampton 9
Perpignan 19 Treviso 10
Bath 14 Ulster 18
Brive 15 Scarlets 17
Edinburgh 21 Stade Francais 30
London Irish 28 Leinster 33
Ospreys 21 Leicester 22
Viadana 6 Clermont Auvergne 50
Biarritz 25 Glasgow 10
Harlequins 17 Cardiff Blues 32
Newport-Gwent Dragons 15 Gloucester 11
Sale 9 Toulouse 23

I reckon that above set of results leaves a 2 teams on 18 points and therefore 2 teams in with a shout of the 2nd best runner up spot - the Blues and Northampton! Fingers crossed.

The Scarlets put 58 points on London Irish in 2 matches.

Scarlets simply must have been their Achilles Heel, the only team in europe this season to concede less points was Leinster and as far as i'm aware they've also conceded the least points in the gp.

Irish were complacent against us. They played Lamb and tried to spred it at every opportunity. Basically in the 2 games they thought a bonus point win against us was a foregone conclusion.

They then played a totally different game against Leinster by putting Malone in at 10 to shut up shop.

Their own fault entirely.

Yes and when they've a mind to they've got a solid defense. They just dont seem capable of getting it in place when they needed to close out the games against the scarlets.

That is the experience that they lack. Wasps won the tournament not because they were fundamentally better than any of the other teams but because they knew how to win games and shut teams out at the right time.

Munster are kings of not necessarily playing the best rugby but they win lots.

London Irish need to develop that edge. Personally I think they are a couple of wise-heads short in the pack.

you're right and funnily enough, in the last couple of seasons as mcgahon has come in and we've started to play better rugby, we've won less.

if you look at the teams who have consistently succeeded in the heineken cup, they all have boasted players who would be classed here as "cute whores", the likes of dayglow, ibanez, shaw, pelous, betsen, back, corry, johnson, foley, jim williams, quinlan, o'driscoll and cullen. fellas who understand exactly when a game needs to be forced quick and when one needs to be strangled and seen out.
